Happy Summer!

Hey, y'all! As the semester comes to a close and the Animal Crossing graduations 🎓 come to an end, we look forward to a summer filled with side projects, internships, and opportunities. For those that have been with us before, you might notice our new name. We are now intern.club and we have a new centralized slack community for all students here.

We've already started hosting events and activities for this summer and you'll see some upcoming activities below as well in our slack community here.

🖍 Scribble night - June 8th - RSVP - Social event of the week where we play Pictionary on Figma.

🎥 Adobe Creative Jam w/ Netflix - June 19th - RSVP - Join Adobe, Netflix, and college students in a designathon to identify solutions that matter.

Opportunities

🌱 Soma Cap Fellowship Application
Soma Capital is an early-stage venture capital fund with portfolio companies including Cruise, Rappi, Lambda School, Ironclad, and Coda. Those selected are connected with Soma Capital’s early-stage portfolio for 2020 summer and fall internship opportunities. Through the internship, Fellows will shadow the founders and be well-positioned to start their own ventures. Fellows will receive access to events, workshops, and mentorship as well as participate in a remote startup incubation program and a pitch competition.

Intern Spotlight: “Hi I’m Mara! I’m a CS major at the University of Virginia. I’ve worked for non-profits like Kode With Klossy and Black Girls Code. My first internship is this summer with Microsoft. I didn’t start traveling until last year, but since then, I’ve been on a plane almost 20 times! My favorite places to visit have been Seattle, LA, and Seoul. Last semester, I was refused entry into China. I was studying abroad at the time in Shanghai and while I was there I took cheap flights to other countries like Korea and Japan. On my way back from Japan, there was a typhoon and they shut down the airport and delayed my flight. I hopped on the next available flight and when I arrived in Pudong airport, my visa was expired by two days. I was sent back to Japan and spent the next two weeks reapplying for a visa and eventually got back to America.”
