Setting yourself up for success
The inside scoop on the last Clubhouse event, and what you can expect for the next one. Plus, we're opening the community back up.
In case you missed it, last week we spoke with Contrary Capitals Head of Community Danielle Frider on Clubhouse. Contrary is a venture fund bringing together the top minds in engineering, design, and product at an early stage in their careers to connect them with a community of like-minded people. Sound like something for you? Apply to join their fellowship here.
If the fellowship isn’t for you, there’s still a lot to unpack from the conversation. Danielle started her career in tech at WeWork as part of their community management team. Fast forward a few years, she lands at Contrary and is still working on bringing together top minds from across industries. Their fellowship program helps fellows create relationships that will be with them throughout their careers.
Danielle dives more into the fellowship and Contrary in our podcast on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. Give it a listen, and let us know what you think.
This week we’ll be on Clubhouse again talking with HBCUvc - who are working to develop the next generation of venture capital leaders. They’re cooking up an awesome summer program which we’ll be diving into. It’s going down Tuesday, March 9th, at 6 pm est. Just tap the button below to add it to your calendar (you know you want to).
The community is back
It’s been too long since we all connected, and the wait is finally over. We’re opening our Slack community again, and if you’re having FOMO right now, don’t worry you’re not alone. Not in the community? Don’t sweat it, just reach out to us over email and we’ll get you in. Did we mention there are over 5,000 people in it?
Brand new world for intern.club
Welcome to intern.club. Made for interns, and by interns. Not new grads. Who we are hasn’t changed, but we have a new look. You might ask, why put in all this work? Why put in the time and energy to build a brand from the ground up?
When trying to build a house that lasts, you need to start with a solid foundation. That’s exactly what we needed, so we went back to why we started intern.club and asked ourselves the hard questions. Asking these questions and turning our brand upside down was a tough process. Was it all worth it? We’ll let you decide.
We took it back. Waayyyy back. In the early days, intern.club was started as a way for interns and new grads to meet new people and make new friends. intern.club was created to kickstart personal growth. After hours spent over minute details and back and forth conversations trying to envision the future of intern.club, we were able to craft a brand that we’re proud of.
Working through this process we learned that progress is just beyond the tough questions. And by welcoming change, we’d also be welcoming an evolution of the intern.club brand. With new visuals, a new wordmark, a new logo, new color palette, but same mission. What we stand for is still rooted in three pillars:
Disruptive
We’re all interns and new grads. That doesn’t mean that we should be underrated. We’re here to work hard for you, and be the change we want to see in the world and in our industries. While we dream big, we know just how to make a plan to smash those goals.
Collective
We are a community for interns, by interns. Being diverse doesn’t mean we can’t connect with one another. We’re here to support each other in launching our careers, meeting other interns, building our network and making friends along the way.
Impactful
We’re resourceful and a go-to source for information and value. We’re here to help each other start our careers along the right path. In everything we do, our goal is to provide value for each other - whether that’s by referring someone for a job, or just offering a piece of advice. When people think of us, they think of how Intern Club has helped them develop themselves and their careers.
So going back to the original question, was all this effort and risk worth it? We think the growth and experiences we’ve gained from it are invaluable. Reach out and let us know your thoughts, we’re always here to chat.
